Archive noteThis statement was published on 2 November 2017. On 8 November 2017 the organisers of SegWit2x suspended the fork. Bitcoin continued unchanged — a turning point that showed users and node operators, not companies or miners, decide Bitcoin's rules.
We support the legacy bitcoin (BTC) and oppose the SegWit2x hard fork scheduled for mid-November at block 494,784. We also do not support the other forked coins, Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold.
Bitcoin is decentralised software. Some large companies are trying to change its core rules through a private agreement. If that succeeds, the core idea of decentralisation dies with it. Bitcoin is a decentralised store of value and should remain that.
